Hey Salaams lovely readers,

I’m so excited to announce that I have been selected, after an informal chat held on the phone from the USA (🤩), to be a Creative Non Fiction Reader for the Mud Season Review. This is an Art and Literature journal which states:

I’m so grateful to have been selected and am already flabbergasted by the sheer number of submissions pouring in and we’re only half way through the month!

It has given me an insight into this industry that has always seemed so mysterious to me. Remind me never to take a rejection of a piece personally again! It just shows that sometimes submitting writing to journals is like playing the lottery- writing is so subjective, it simply depends on whether the right person reads it at the right time and it usually isn’t an indicator or how well one can actually write!

It’s also amazing to see how clear other people’s mistakes are! I’m hoping that with further reading and experience I will grow in my own writing too. Watch this blog space, it is a continuum of progress and also works as evidence in case I ever decide to give up! It is a space to share great news with you all and for that I’m very grateful.

I have also decided to work as a freelance writer from home instead of continuing my teaching journey in September. I’ll definitely be keeping you updated on my journey!
