Sidra Ansari writes children’s books and adult novels with a focus on love and positivity. Her self-help book, ‘Finding Peace Through Prayer and Love’ was published by Beacon Books in January 2021 and it won the Golden Door Bronze Award for Truth and Integrity of the Written Word.
Sidra got her first taste of writing stories as an adult when she completed a ‘Becoming a Writer’ course with Farhana Shaikh, after which she went onto being shortlisted for the Asian Writer Short Story Prize and chosen for the Penguin Write Now Live Program for underrepresented writers. Sidra then became 1/7th of the excellent writer’s group, The Koyal Writers, too, which became one of her many secrets of success.
She is a qualified teacher and worked as a freelance writer and creative writing teacher during 2020/21 which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Also, during 2021, she wrote six brand new titles for Ladybird Education and hopes that she can continue in the same vain as she sees children’s educational books as a perfect marriage of both the teaching and writing world. Her sixth written work of 2021 is an audio collection of original stories on Eid coming out in April 2022, which she is very excited about.
Whether it’s educating children through narrative and fascinating facts, writing novels reflecting women’s contemporary issues or the all-important genre of picture books as the essential windows and mirrors they provide for children, Sidra explores it all in her writing.
The setting for all her work is inspired by her love of the outdoors and the tendency to travel somewhere, anywhere, every year. Sidra currently lives in the West Midlands with her husband, five children, and cat, Storm.
